GypsyFest A multicultural experience! A springtime gala set in a Middle Eastern atmosphere. A Music, Dance and Shopping extravaganza!!!! Belly Dancing, Flaminco, Samba, Breakdancing, Live Drumming, Middle Eastern Dance, Circus Acts, Fire Breathing, Sword Swallowing, Kids Activities, Ethnic Food. Beer from Second Street Brewery, and lots of fun for the whole family. Festivities run from Noon to Dusk. Grand Finale Drum Circle (bring your own) and celebration of the full moon invites us all to share the beams of light and bathe in the love we share. Gates open at 11:00 a.m. at the Oscar Huber Memorial Ballpark at the north end of town. Park in the main lot just north of the ballpark. No glass please. Coolers and wine (in bag that's fine), leashed dogs we don't mind, kites and balls all the time, let the good times soar &roll, let the clouds pass over slow, sing and dance to the hummable trance and the mystery we all share. A dance party at the Mine Shaft Tavern follows the Festival. A fundraiser for Madrid's playground at the ballpark, the Madrid Cultural Projects and the children in all of us. Music Fans from around New Mexico and beyond enjoy the offerings of the Madrid's own community promoted Madrid Music Festivals for the 2nd year. Blues; and a mixture of Folk, Alt. Country and Rock, are this year's offerings. The Madrid Volunteer Fire Department Association, with its re-Vamped menu, hosts the food vending (delicious vegetarian items featured), and local Santa Fe Brewing Company hosts the Beer Hall. There are Vendors of all Pursuasion (including art, clothing, ice cream, jewelry, massage, among others), MMF concert T-shirts, Madrid Cultural Projects T-shirts and ballcaps, and lots of fun for the whole family. Frisbee, volleyball, dogs (leashed) all welcome. Bring your tents, umbrellas, coolers, food, and anything to keep your brow cool. And don't forget your dancing shoes (barefoot dancing is OK too we have carpet on the infield.) Gates open at 11:00 a.m. at the Oscar Huber Memorial Ballpark. Park in the main lot just north of the ballpark at the north end of town. No glass please. $1.00 Parking is located just to the north of the ballpark on State Highway 14 just a few minutes walk to the gate. Accessible and motorcycle parking only available inside the ballpark. All proceeds from these events go to benefit the town of Madrid's various community projects through two town non-profits - the Madrid Cultural Projects, Inc. (restoration of the historic ballpark and interpretative signs, food bank, new toilets), and the Madrid Volunteer Fire Department Association, Inc., both 501 (c) 3 organizations, as well as other community needs requiring funding (roads, drainage, commuity garden, open space and much, much more). | The motorcycle run starts in Santa Fe and comes to Madrid for an afternoon of eating, music, raffles and more. Proceeds of the event go towards purchasing clothes for school kids. The Madrid Landowners Association hosts a raffle to benefit the American veterans and a free afternoon picnic for all who attend. Music, Madrid Historical Society, Old Timers Reunion, Madrid Cultural Projects T-shirts and ballcaps, and much more. Free Picnic starts at 12:00 noon. See photos from last year's event at our photo gallery. We kick off the celebration with our Christmas Parade Saturday, December 2nd at 4:00pm. Santa and Mrs. Clause (what's her first name?) will be around town and stores will be open late and serving refreshments on the six Open House evenings.
