B. Scenic Byways Grant (Toilets, Kiosk, Signage)

No report.

Historical Society:

    1. Mining Museum Project:
    2. Clif and Edie have decided they would sell the tavern separate from the remainder of the property. (still no pending sale though). Note: This leaves the museum, photography studio and theater open for possible future community space.

Awaiting possible lease of copier for Canary to also be used in printing of this project.

MCP Fundraising:

Judging contest winner was Randy Jones for "A horse of a different color" design and second was Mike Wright for "Rattlesnake" design. Each contest winner will receive $75.00. It was voted that both designs would be printed as t-shirts and possibly on future notecards as funds were available.

There was also a motion by Denise to purchase more green hats to sell at upcoming events. Discussion added that we should purchase a minimum of 50 hats or whatever was most cost feasible (per treasurer’s approval) and to also get brown hats if available. Motion was 2nd by Joyce. Passed unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS:

Rhonda’s gift:

Since renovation keeps getting pushed back it was agreed to move forward on asking Rhonda to lunch and presenting her with a gift of a vintage Madrid ballpark photo. Mark will get approval from Marsha to use her photo.

NEW BUSINESS:
Jazz For Peace Concerts:

Mark presented the idea of adding this concert to the summer series for July 10th. Mark asked that we, as individuals, get pledges for 80-100 tickets to help secure the date.

Madrid CD’s

Bruce offered the CD’s he created, that were in a recent Canary issue, for sale at $10.00 each, $5.00 going to Bruce and $5.00 to the MCP or individual or business that sells them. Mark will include them as additional merchandise on MCP web page.

Madrid Radio Station

Frank stated that he is taking over the mission of creating the Madrid Radio Station that has been in the works for awhile, most recently by Rania. Fundraising has already purchased a radio tower which Frank will try to get permission from the MLA to place on ballpark parking property. This will be a community station under 10 watts and therefore beneath the guidelines that require regulation by the FCC. Frank asked to be placed under the umbrella of the MCP. Joyce motioned that the MCP umbrella the radio station contingent on the acceptance of the financial terms which Frank will present to the treasurer. 2nd by Mark. Passed unanimously.
