COMMITTEE REPORTS

Ballpark---Mark Bremer

Mark and Kent will host the MCP booth at the legislature on Monday the 16th with Andreas Romero, Danny Wright and Cayetano Casados. Press releases have been sent to the New Mexican, the Journal and several East Mountain papers.

Mark hopes that some community service people in the community can help finish the gutters on the grandstand.

Woofy reports dirt bikes which have been buzzing around town, including ballpark and suggests license number of truck that brought them here be taken down and reported to police.

Open Space–Woofy
The county refused to concede three points during final negotiation:

1 Right of Reversion

    1. No recompense for the monies paid out during the two negotiation
    2. Will not work with community or MLA on use of open space

Gavin saw Mike Anaya at polling station in Stanley, and the commissioner agreed to speak to Paul Olufson about the matter.

There are several possibilities, including raising the $37K needed to buy the greenbelt. Mark has drawn up a letter (see Attached) to go out with MLA quarterly dues that urges each landowner to contribute $157 to buy the greenbelt.

Bank of America has a matching grant program that could pay half, but it is necessary to establish a greenbelt fund to show serious intent.

Schoolhouse

The price is now down to $375,000. Anah K. will talk to William Goodman about possibly putting on an art show.

Schoolhouse (cont)

We need to start thinking of alternate ways of raising money to buy the schoolhouse such as millionaires.

Talking Talons

Chris Adams, former supervisor, has moved on. A new supervisor, Diane, has taken over and we will be working with her if a new grant comes through this year.

Playground

Sunday, February 29th, Playground Construction Party. 11 to whenever. A pot luck barbeque.

New Business

MCP Website

MCP website is no longer free. Kent motions that the MCP pay $4.95 per month/$60 per year to continue on site. Anna seconds. Passed.

Gypsy Festival

Jim Hasenbank has parking signs for them.

Anna wants help building a reuseable stage

Canary

If MCP has events or announcements, we should be making better use of the Canary to alert the community.

More than ever it makes sense to acquire a copier, primarily for the Canary, but also for the use of the MCP. Elisa will look into the possibility for us.
