Schoolhouse

Historical Society----No reports

Playground–Anna T. reports that the hooks on the new swingsets don’t hold very well---Carl H. offers to take a look and come up with a better attachment. Anna is waiting for the sand delivery before putting the swings on.

There was also discussion on fencing for wall that separates two playgrounds to keep kids from jumping or falling.

Gypsy Festival---Anna T. reports that dates changed from May 15 to 16th. She has applied for permits in the name of the MCP

Canary---Annah K. says the most crucial problem facing the Canary is the lack of a copy machine. Elisa works at CCA where they rent their machine. Annah K. will call and get prices from E.K. Currently it is costing Canary $300 for 150 copies per month.

There will be a Free Box Fashion Show Fundraiser on April 1 at the former ice cream parlor on the boardwalk.

Greenbelt. Cindy S. moves that she and Mark B. meet with Bank of America and discuss financing for purchase of the greenbelt. Accepted.

Scenic Byways---Diana Johnson points out that any interpretative display on the upper parking lot needs Water Coop Approval. Also, there is a potential conflict concerning access during events such as Jazz Festival

Uniforms---Cindy Sheff moves that $250 be approved for the two uniforms, kent seconds. Motion accepted.

New Business---Cindy Sheff believes we need a good gift for Rhonda. There is a possibility of something at Diana Johnson’s Gallery that she would like. The MCP could spend around $175, perhaps matched by the MLA.

Jim H. (See Attached letter) would like to see more people get involved in helping to organize the July 4th AmVets event. In addition to wider community support and involvement, he wants to get a band and a good PA system. There is a good possibility for MCP support---a children’s raffle held by C4U---MCP involvement in ceremonies, etc.

MCP will commit itself to children’s raffle, and to a historical display, and will begin planning for a Madrid Miner’s Float for the July 4 Parade. Anna T. suggests we all come back at the next meeting and discuss what we want to do for July 4.

Next Meeting is set for April 7, 2004 at Cindy Sheff’s.
