MADRID CULTURAL PROJECTS BOARD MEETING

October 10, 2005

Attending: Nancy McIntosh, Lisa Conley, Lynn McLane, Diana Johnson, Mark Bremer, Gail Snyder, Liz Falconer.

 

Meeting called to order at 6:10 pm

Minutes from September 19, 2005 meeting read, corrected and approved. Motion to approve by Lynn McLane, second Diana Johnson; Passed unanimously. .

TREASURER’S REPORT:

Cindy was not in attendance and no further information was available. The treasurer's report from 9-19-2005 will suffice until next month. Some monies for hat and shirt sales and for the food depot were given to Mark who wil report on that addition next month.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Ballpark:

    1. State Grant (Renovation and Grandstand): Diana reports that Joyce will call Rhonda (proposed at the MLA meeting of 10-9-05) to contact the Governor's Chief of Staff to see if he can help resolve the issues.

B. Scenic Byways Grant : no additional information.

Historical Society:

A. Mailing list: Liz will contact Diana to get new names

B. Diana will invite Bill Baxter and Todd Brown to a meeting with Lisa and Lara to see what is involved in making plaques for each historical building in Madrid- as they have done in Cerrillos.

MCP Fundraising:

A. Mark will help man the fundraising table for Christmas week

B. We will produce 25 new cookbooks for sale.

C. Mark will confirm that Bethany has the t-shirts and caps.

Food Depot:

.

Mark will pick up food every Wednesday. Gayle and Jeff will distribute it Thursday .

Playground: No report

Ballpark Concert Series:

At the end of October Anna will have a dinner and all of the checks should be in by then.

Community Spaces:

A. Gayle has not heard back from Kent about using the church as a public space- the discussion was tabled until she hears from him.

B. The idea was raised about building something on the garage lots on the greenbelt or the County property adjacent to the Firehouse.

OLD BUSINESS: None

NEW BUSINESS:

A. Fourth of July picnic: MCP, MLA and Fire Department will make it a joint venture; Dale Edwards has volunteered meat; Chris Boda will cook; the will be a parade; is there a possibility of a ballgame with Cerrillos?; Diana will make and post signs for volunteers.

Nancy and Bruce will be the MCP representatives to the joint 4th Committee.

B. Christmas: After much discussion it was decided that Lynn and Lisa will call a merchant meeting to talk about donations and a budget for Christmas events three weeks in December. There are many budget decisions to make and we need to know now who wants what- lights, new lights, stagecoach, house decorating contest, etc.

The Christmas Committee is still umbrellaed by the MCP- some discussion about resurrecting the old committee of Lynn, Diana, and John Zelmer

Bruce will be Santa Claus and Nancy will be his mistress(wife).

Diana will talk with Tanya Eberhart about the House Decorating Contest

The parade is December 3rd at 3pm. Tamara has volunteered to do the parade.

The Stagecoach costs $300/day for 4 hours- Saturday is best. This will be decided at the budget meeting.

C. Highway 14 clean up: MCP voted unanimously to take on the section of the highway formerly cleaned by Madrid Lodging. Mark will do what is needed ot get the paperwork done and Lynn will get the new signs made. When we get that done we will get volunteers during snake hibernation to clean.

D. President's Day Exhibit in the Roundhouse- we will use Bruce's images.

E. The Greenbelt Coalition Committee Volunteers: Lyn and Liz will join volunteers from the MLA and the Fire Department to

develop a list of things that need to be done

Next MCP meeting will be on the first Monday of November (11- -05) at 6pm at Mark's house- 03 Opera House Road.
